Pressure equipment

The essence of CE certification of pressure equipment is the certification of safety valve, air cabinet and tower groove.

Pressure Equipment Directive (PED, 97/23/EC) is required for pressure equipment products (such as fire extinguishers, pressure gauges, valves, safety valves, air cabinets, tower grooves, pipes, fittings, steam equipment, etc.) sold to the EU since 28 May 2002. All equipment with design pressure exceeding 0.5 bar, regardless of its pressure and volume, must comply with CE-PED requirements.

Pressure Equipment Directive (PED, 97/23/EC) is one of the instructions. All equipment with design pressure exceeding 0.5 bar, regardless of its pressure and volume, must comply with PED requirements. Equipment such as fire extinguishers, pressure gauges, valves, safety valves, air cabinets, tower grooves, pipes, fittings, steam equipment for loading or conveying fluids must comply with PED requirements.

PED was adopted on 29 May 1997 and has been in effect since 29 November 1999. Until 28 May 2002, there will be a 30-month grace period for adaptation, i.e. products can choose to apply PED or the original regulations of various countries (but the original regulations of each country can only be circulated within its territory). From 29 May 2002, the original regulations of all countries will be abolished. D became a mandatory regulation for pressure equipment in Europe. Therefore, pressure equipment manufacturers should respond as early as possible to avoid being excluded from the European market.

According to PED specifications, pressure equipment and components above a specific pressure/volume threshold must:

Safety

Compliance with basic safety requirements for design, manufacturing, and testing

Satisfy appropriate conformity assessment procedures

Signs attached with CE logo and related regulations

Pressure equipment and components below a specific pressure/volume threshold must:

Safety

Design and Manufacture Based on Perfect Engineering Practice

Selection of Product Classification and Conformity Assessment Model with Relevant Labels (CE Labels may not be attached)

Manufacturers must analyze and categorize their products in order to meet the different requirements of PED for different pressure equipment. Products can be categorized into five categories: PED clause 3.3 (designed and manufactured on the basis of the improved engineering practices of Member States), and categories I to IV. The higher the risk, the higher the classification level and the stricter the regulations.
